France: Identify disinformation online
Researchers at the University of Notre Dame are using artificial intelligence to develop an early warning system that will identify disinformation online. New time needs new solutions.
EU: Making business future-ready
The European Commission has presented this month a new Strategy to help Europe's industry lead the twin transitions towards climate neutrality and digital leadership. New reality needs new policies.
EU: Defence-focused Solutions

US: Digital Dollar
In order to fight economic crisis the United States House of Representatives looks to implement the digital dollar. A draft of the legislation proposes the creation of digital wallets for U.S. citizens earning less than $75,000 a year. These payments would last until the economy recovers.
EU: Human Rights and Democracy
The European Commission is in the process of adopting a Joint Communication and the EU Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy for 2020-2024. One of the main lines of action is harnessing opportunities and addressing challenges posed by the use of new technologies.
EU-Africa: Together for green and digital transformation
The European Commission and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy proposed the basis for a new strategy with Africa. The communication sets out proposals to intensify cooperation through partnerships in five key areas: digital transformation is one of them.
UK: Oxford University launches world’s first COVID-19 government response tracker
The first ever tool to track and compare governmental policy responses. So far it has data from 73 countries and suppose to help researchers in tracing governmental actions during the crisis.
EU-Eastern Partnership: Supporting the digital transformation
The EU will invest further in the digital transformation of the partner countries, in line with EU legislation and best practice and support the scale up of highly innovative digital start-ups in the region. The long-term policy objectives of the Eastern Partnership beyond 2020 were proposed.
Mirakl launched an online platform that is designed to bring together products that are mostly needed in hospitals in these times of shortage.
Belgium: €11.46 billion in 2019
E-commerce in Belgium broke all national records in 2019 as online shoppers spent 11.46 billion euros, which is 900 million euros more than the year before. For now e-commerce is the key driver for growth in the Belgian retail industry.
Brazil-EU: Cyber cooperation
The February 20 Brazil-EU Cyber Dialogue signaled the most recent step taken by Brasília and Brussels to collaborate on advancing responsible state behavior in cyberspace.

Digital Innovation Hubs projects: open calls for SMEs
The EU initiatives offer several funding opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to implement and test digital innovations within the framework of the European network of Digital Innovation Hubs.
Deadline: 20 September. 
Implementing the European Open Science Cloud
The European Commission is launching two calls for proposals related to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), the open and trusted environment for managing research data. With an overall budget of approximately €65 million, the two calls aim to consolidate the EOSC Portal and support interdisciplinary research and Open Science.
