The Second IAU Global Survey on the Impact of COVID-19 on Higher Education around the World is available until 1 June 2021. If you have not already submitted your response, please do so to provide concrete data to underline the seriousness of the impact of COVID-19 on higher education and society, as well as to ensure that the concerns of universities and other HEIs are taken into consideration by global decision-makers. Questionnaire PDF available here.

UNESCO World Conference on ESD
 
 The UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development will be held as a virtual conference from 17 to 19 May 2021, with a view to highlighting the crucial role of Education for Sustainable Development (H-ESD) as a key enabler for the successful achievement of all SDGs, the COVID-19 rebuilding process, and to create momentum for strengthening ESD in policy and practice. IAU will co-organise and chair the session Putting ESD into action in higher education.

Innovative Education for Unshaped Futures
 
IAU and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) have partnered to develop Innovative Education for Unshaped Futures (IE4UF) – a series of sessions to explore the digital trans-formation of higher education brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. The series is divided into 6 1-hour chapters exploring different levels of change and moving from broader topics to more specific areas in the second part of the series.

We are pleased to announce the launch the new Leading Globally Engaged Universities (LGEU) programme – the IAU workshop for university leaders. A series of short, focused online sessions will take place between September and December 2021 with the aim of enabling participants to enhance their approach to strategic planning, discover new leadership ideas and insights, and to extend their international network through peer engagement.

The IAU is very pleased to congratulate the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative, for which it received the prestigious UN Secretary-General 2020 Innovation Award. AAP Public Dialogue Series
 
IAU is a partner to the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) Public Dialogue Series 2021. Among others, the Consortium includes 5 IAU Members. The next session Perspectives on Race and Ethnicity in Africa and the Diaspora will take place on 12 May. This dialogue will provide an opportunity for the leadership and other experts at universities across the globe to come together for sustained discussion of how higher education is—or ought to be—responding to racial injustice in Africa and the diaspora in the US, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

GlobalMindED 2021 Virtual Conference
 
GlobalMindED 2021 began on 20 April and will continue through 25 June bringing a series of inclusive sessions focused on key HE issues.  IAU Secretary-General Hilligje van't Land will speak at the session entitled The Future of Higher Education: A Global Perspective on 26 May alongside Olivia Fleming (OneHE), Warren Kennard (ConnectED), and C. Edward Watson (Asso-ciation of American Colleges and Universities).

EURASHE's 30th Annual Conference
 
The 30th Annual Conference of the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE) will take place online 20-21 May 2021. IAU Secretary-General Hilligje van't Land will speak at the panel discussion on Maximising PHE potential in European Research and Education area: ambitions for the sustainability driven future alongside Anna Panagopoulou (European Commission) and Ana Tecilazić (Algebra University College, Croatia).

The topics covered are identified by the Association’s leadership and membership and each statement is the product of extensive drafting and international consultations. Sulitest – Pedagogical Tools for Sustainability in Higher Education
 
Sustainability Literacy is the knowledge, skills and mindsets that allow individuals to become deeply committed towards building a sustainable future and also help them to make informed and effective decisions to this effect. Sulitest offers a variety of pedagogical tools aligned with the SDGs, such as "Test", "Quiz" and "Looping". IAU has been actively involved in the creation of the platform and sits on the Sulitest Advisory Board.
