The Second IAU Global Survey on the Impact of COVID-19 on Higher Education around the World is available until 15 April 2021. If you have not already submitted your response, please do so to provide concrete data to underline the seriousness of the impact of COVID-19 on higher education and society, as well as to ensure that the concerns of universities and other HEIs are taken into consideration by global decision-makers. The IAU Webinar Series on the Future of Higher Education brings two new sessions this month, beginning with A Question of Quality: What is a Good University? on 13 April.
The second instalment of the series presenting the publication Higher Education’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic: Building A More Sustainable and Democratic Future hosted by Dublin City University, Ireland, will take place on 21 April. The book is co-edited by Sjur Bergan (Council of Europe), Tony Gallagher (Queen’s University Belfast), Ira Harkavy, (Netter Center, University of Pennsylvania), Ronaldo Munck (Dublin City University), and Hilligje van't Land, IAU Secretary-General.

UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education

Nominations are open for the 2021 edition of the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education, recognising outstanding efforts made by individuals, institutions, non‐governmental organisations and other entities to advance girls’ and women’s education. It also contributes to two Sustainable Development Goals: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all (Goal 4) and Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls (Goal 5).

Africa and the Disruptions of the 21st Century

IAU Board Member Paul Tiyambe Zeleza, Vice Chancellor and Professor of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the United States International University-Africa, has published a collection of essays interrogating the repositioning of Africa and its diasporas in the unfolding disruptive transformations of the early twenty-first century, focusing on America’s racial dysfunctions, navigating global turbulence, Africa’s political dramas and persistent mythologisation and disruptions in higher education.

Higher Education and SDG 5 on Gender Equality

On the occasion of International Women's Day 2021, IAU and the University of Bologna, Italy, launched a new publication focusing on SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. The publication is part of a series of publications on university actions for the SDGs, with the overall aim of building new synergies and capacities to act while informing higher education more broadly.

ISAS Impact Evaluation Report
|
| |
IAU and the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College are pleased to present the ISAS impact evaluation study investigating the efficacy of the Internationalization Strategy Advisory Services (ISAS) program and its successor ISAS (2.0) on internationalization initiatives at higher education institutions. The results indicate that all participating institutions found ISAS to be useful in advancing their internationalization initiatives, which is a clear endorsement of the program on their part.
