Sustainable and Inclusive Internationalization
 
The 2021 Virtual Conference on Sustainable and Inclusive Internationalization was held from 22-24 January, as part of York University's Sustainable On The Go Initiative aimed at responsibly addressing student and scholar mobility. The event was organised by York University in collaboration with IAU, the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, and Okayama University, and attracted over 700 registrations from more than 70 countries.

Over 2,100 participants from 109 countries gathered virtually for the Global Dialogue Series launched by UNODC’s Education for Justice (E4J) initiative in December, examining current and future perspectives ensuing from the COVID-19 pandemic to reimagine education towards building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies.

SDG Conference Bergen: The SDGs after the crisis
 
The fourth national SDG Conference Bergen: The SDGs after the crisis will be held virtually from 10-12 February 2021. The sessions will address the many issues emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic, which have further highlighted the challenges facing global sustainable development. Initiated by the University of Bergen, this annual event is organised in partnership with other Norwegian universities and government agencies.

Call for Contributions – ITD 2021
 
IAU sits on the Strategic Board to the International Transdisciplinarity Conference (ITD), a platform for engagement, discussion, and action linking transdisciplinary research, (un)learning, and practice. Pandemic: The Catastrophic Crisis
 
Dr Modesto Seara Vázquez, Rector of the System of State Universities of Oaxaca (SUNEO), has penned down his latest publication entitled Pandemic: The Catastrophic Crisis.

Inter Faculty Journal 2020: Resonance
 
The University of Tsukuba, Japan, presents the latest edition (volume 10) of the Inter Faculty journal. This special issue focuses on the theme of resonance within the context of the pandemic and its ensuing societal shifts. Giorgio Marinoni, IAU's Manager of HE & Internationalization, and Hilligje van't Land, IAU Secretary-General, have also contributed an article on the subject Consequences of COVID-19 on Future Society: Some Reflections from the Higher Education Sector.

UNESCO AIED Forum 2020
 
The UNESCO International Forum on AI and the Futures of Education  (AIED) took place in December 2020. This year's edition was dedicated to Developing Competencies for the AI Era. Trine Jensen, IAU's HE & Digtal Transformation Manager, also spoke at the event, which brought together education and technology experts from around the world to discuss the potential of AI as a common good for education.
