A message from the District Superintendent...
"Don’t Miss Heaven for the World"

Let’s enter into Christmas and the New Year with new hope and fresh joy, but never forget to not only live for heaven, but to live like heaven has already entered the world.

Our mission as people of God includes outreach, compassion, worship, evangelism and discipleship. Yet chief among our many duties is HIS call for us to pray. A friend of mine recently quoted Samuel Chadwick, “In the Path of Prayer” (1931). Old truths? Read for yourself. I think not:

“Our Methodist Fathers were mighty in prayer. They saved England by prayer. They shook the gates of hell by prayer. They opened the windows of heaven by prayer. How did they learn to pray? They learned to pray by being much in prayer … The world will never believe in a religion in which there is no supernatural power. A rationalized faith, a socialized Church, and a moralized gospel may gain applause, but they awaken no conviction and win no converts.”

“Lord, teach us to pray,” (Luke 11:1) help us live for heaven, may our lives witness your glory and supernatural power, pointing people to you – the true hope of the world. Keep our eyes on you and not the fleeting hope offered by the world. We don’t want to miss your power. We don’t want to miss your glory. We don’t want to miss your heaven.  We don’t want to miss it for the world.

Merry Christmas Everyone
And a Happy New Year too.
