VIRGINIA TEAM UPDATE (VTU)
SEPTEMBER 2020 EDITION

From the District Superintendent

In State Work & Witness. Last week Cheryl and I travelled to Norfolk and join teams from VB1, Chesapeake the Branch, Annandale Calvary, and Hampton Puerta de Salvación. We spent the better part of a beautiful Saturday clearing, cleaning and otherwise helping a new ministry at Norfolk Calvary led by Pastor Bobbie Jo King. Our work involved getting the property ready for a new ministry called “Living Water.” This could be an excellent in state work and witness type project for any local church. I encourage you to reach out to Pastor Bobbie Jo to inquire about serving opportunities. bobbiejoking@me.com

Ordination Service. A special service of ordination to Christian ministry will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 beginning at 11:00AM at the Salem Living Well Church of the Nazarene, with Dr. Carla Sunberg, general superintendent presiding. This year, due to covid-19 the event is by invitation only for those attending in person, however, the event will be streamed live on our Virginia District Facebook page. We are grateful how God has provided this opportunity to complete the ordination process for those who qualify and have been so elected and recommended by the earlier District Advisory Committee Assembly.

A New Ministry. On Sunday, October 11, 2020, Dr. Carla Sunberg will be a special guest at the commissioning service for a new ministry called: “Living Well Church of the Nazarene at Riverdale” (Roanoke). Launch Sunday for the core group will be held at Salem Living Well Church of the Nazarene. The Pastor of the new ministry is Steve Roberson. Steve Parker, Pastor at Living Well in Salem is involved and supporting this new ministry. This new ministry find its home in the former Grandview Heights Church of the Nazarene.

Praying for Revival. I recently posted on my personal Facebook page the following prayer:

Lord, renew the flame of Your holy fire in and through your people.
Renew our love for prayer and for Your Word, give us love for all with courage to be witnesses to Your redemption and forgiveness from sin, death and the grave.

"He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit." (Titus 3:5)

COVID HOPE FUND. I want to take this opportunity to remind you that your district family has established the COVID HOPE FUND specifically to assist ministers who may be financially (or otherwise) affected by the pandemic. We have already been able to assist a number of pastoral families and we are grateful for the generosity of our churches that has made this possible. If you have a need or are aware of a need of a pastoral family please reach out to us and we will be delighted and humbled to provide assistance where we can.

We love the privilege of serving with you,

Phil & Cheryl Fuller
