Remembrance Sunday
 
To mark Remembrance Sunday this year, the Chairman of the Town Council laid a wreath at 9:30am accompanied by the Last Post and Revel. This was also live streamed on our Facebook page, which you can view here.
 
From 10.00am onwards, the memorial was available for any other wreaths to be laid and for friends and relatives to come and pay their respects, maintaining social distancing rules.

Town Deal Bid Update
 
The Town Deal Board and Milton Keynes Council have agreed the final bid and this has now been submitted to the government. The bid will be assessed and there will be further discussions between the government, the Town Deal Board and Milton Keynes Council before any potential funding is approved.

We will be sharing further updates on the Town Deal bid's progress on our social media channels and on our website.

The Community Larder is a membership programme where anyone can buy their shopping for a little as £3.50 per week and help reduce perfectly good food going to waste.

Work begins on new Public Art Work in Newton Leys
 
The Town Council is delighted that construction work is starting soon on the Newton Leys Public Art Project, ‘Alphonso’, which will be a seating and focal point on the top of Little Callow Mound.
 
Artist Sarah Staton worked with the Town Council, a local steering group and Milton Keynes Council in developing this new Art Work. Alphonso has been designed with full community involvement and reflects aspects of local history.
 
We really look forward to seeing this exciting work completed as the work is being funded by Taylor Wimpey as part of s106 planning gain contributions. We hope the Public Art Work will further enhance Newton Leys.

Public Consultation on proposal for new primary school in Eaton Leys
 
Milton Keynes Council are holding a consultation seeking views and feedback about the proposal to create a new primary school at Eaton Leys. Residents have until 22nd November 2020 to give feedback on the proposal.

Waste and Recycling Consultation by Milton Keynes Council
 
Milton Keynes Council are conducting a consultation on Waste and Recycling Collection from today until Sunday 24th January 2021. YiS Young People's Mental Health Support
 
YiS Young People's Mental Health is an independent charity that works in Milton Keynes to help young people as well as the people around them that support them. They provide counselling, education, training and more to improve mental health and wellbeing in the local area.

Local Group: Keeping the Blue Lagoon Beautiful
 
A group of local residents have come together to create a litter picking group called ‘Keep The Blue Lagoon Beautiful.’
 
They continue to do great work whilst observing Covid-19 measures. We would like to remind residents to please be a good citizen and to dispose of any rubbish responsibly. For example, if you can't find a bin or a bin is full, please take your rubbish home with you.

Following the latest Government measures, Newton Leys Pavilion is currently only being used by Buttons Pre-School.

We are not taking future bookings for parties or social events at the moment and we are regularly reviewing government guidance.
 
We look forward to welcoming back our regular users and new hirers when it is safe to do so.

Together we can all help reduce the spread of Covid-19. We must remember to wash our hands regularly, wear face coverings in enclosed spaces and to keep our distance.
