Phoenix Virtual Ensemble
We are delighted with how well the first two months of our Virtual Ensemble have gone, and grateful to everyone who took part. Having spent much of 2020 watching people silently playing along in a zoom call, it's great to hear how we all sound together! Click on the image above to hear our November ensemble playing Arran Boat Song/Oyster Wife Rant. The idea is that people sign up one month at a time, during which time we work on two tunes/sets of tunes. There are parts for all abilities, a resource pack with audio/video/sheet music and a zoom rehearsal. We're working on some festive tunes for the December ensemble. For more details, click below.

Online Sessions (Christmas/New Year)
Our twice-weekly tunes sessions on Zoom are still taking place every Monday and Thursday evenings, along with our Tuesday night singaround. We really do enjoy seeing everyone, and are very grateful for all the lovely feedback and voluntary donations to our tip jar.
We've been asking participants what they would prefer over the Christmas period. For weeks commencing the 21st and 28th December, our Monday and Tuesday sessions will continue as normal. We'll move our Thursday sessions to Wednesday nights for these two weeks...but we'll still do something on Christmas Eve/New Years Eve for those who would enjoy seeing some friendly faces and playing a few tunes - so there'll be something happening every night Mon-Thurs for those two weeks. Keep an eye on our facebook page and website for more details and zoom links.
For anyone new to our online sessions, Marina and Maurice play tunes live on fiddle & guitar and you join in from home. We can't hear you, and you only hear us, so it's a relaxed way to learn new repertoire. We've introduced over a hundred tunes since March, and there's talk of more tunes being added in the new year! Sessions take place every Monday and Thursday nights 8.00-9.30pm UK time (Monday nights are at a steady speed) and anyone can just turn up and join in. The tunebook is free to download on our website. We also run a weekly singaroud on Tuesday evenings 7.30-9.30pm.
Stories & Music: Fireside Tales (5th December7.30-9pm)
We're delighted to be holding another stories and music evening (on Zoom) on Saturday 5th December 7.30-9pm and are looking forward to performing alongside local poet Harry Gallager in an evening of Fireside Tales. Music will be from from Maurice and Marina's duo, Miggins Fiddle. Tickets are not required, people can pay as they feel or can afford in our tip jar on the night. Joining details are on the link below and do keep an eye on our website and facebook page for future events. All welcome!
