Furlough Update

With over 7 million of the UK's workforce furloughed, and 80% of employee's wages - up to £2,500 a month - being paid by the government and the scheme due to finish at the end of June pressure has been mounting for the scheme to be extended.

Chancellor Sunak stated last week that there would be no "cliff edge" cut-off and true to his word the Chancellor has announced that the scheme will continue until the end of October 2020.

Until the end of July, there are no changes but from August to October 2020, the scheme continues on the basis that furloughed employees can gradually return to work (e.g. part-time) with employers expected to contribute to the cost of the scheme.

It is expected that full details will be published by the end of May and we will of course keep you appraised of developments.
