EU: Results of protection from disinformation during elections​
Joint Communication sets out how the Action Plan against Disinformation and the Elections Package have helped to fight disinformation. Further steps to be done.
EU & African Union: Digital cooperation between the EU and African Union to be
African Union is launching African Digital Single Market. By the end of 2019, 50% of African population will be using mobile services. To address issues that may occur African Union will learn from the EU Digital Single Market experience.
EU: Guidance on free flow of non-personal data
Guidance was launched. Document aims to clarify which rules apply when processing personal and non-personal data. Guidance aims to help users – in particular small and medium-sized enterprises – understand the interaction between the two regulations.
Blockchain for digital government​
New report that looks at the ongoing exploration of blockchain technology by governments was launched. The research shows that blockchain technology can reduce bureaucracy, increase the efficiency of administrative processes and increase the level of trust in public recordkeeping.​
India: E-government website for tracking and fulfilling welfare schemes
It is expected to bring the implementation of welfare schemes for scheduled tribes (STs) under the purview of e-governance, with greater efficiency and transparency as there is no established mechanism for collecting data from the States or collating it.
EU: Ecommerce in Europe: €621 billion in 2019
According to the latest Ecommerce Foundation report E-commerce in Europe is forecasted to be worth 621 billion EUR by the end of 2019. This would mean an increase of 13.6 percent. The last year e-commerce was worth 547 billion EUR.
UK: Zero-waste online supermarket raises €450 000
Online supermarket Good Club from the UK has completed a crowdfunding campaign. This startup has the ambition to become the world’s first zero-waste online supermarket.
EU: Electronic evidence
Commission receives mandate to start negotiating international rules for obtaining electronic evidence. With the majority of criminal investigations requiring access to evidence based online and often outside the EU, there is an urgent need to equip police and judicial authorities with quick and efficient tools fit for modern reality.
Middle East: The US$320 billion impact of AI for the Middle East
Perspectives and most suitable places for AI development. The annual growth in the contribution of AI is expected to range between 20-34% per year across the region.
