Kathmandu welcomes the Policy Forum for Development
CLGF joined more than 80 representatives of Asian local and national authorities, civil society and EU institutions for the 3rd Asian Regional Meeting of the Policy Forum on Development. Southern Africa regional local government meets
CLGF’s Southern Africa Regional Conference attracted praise from members and participants alike. The event looked at future strategies for local government in the region, bringing together a host of stakeholders to discuss key issues. Read more, including the Outcomes Statement.
Signing up to action for a healthy planet
CLGF joined with a number of key organisations in signing up to the manifesto to secure a healthy planet. Launched in London, the event included discussions on emergency response mechanisms to address the climate and environmental crises. Read more ...

Building sustainable cities
CLGF Patron closes 5th Pacific Urban Forum
After three successful days of discussions, the 5th Pacific Urban Forum drew to a close with some final remarks from CLGF Patron and Prime Minister of Tuvalu, Hon Enele Sopoaga. Read more about PUF5 and learn about the outcomes by reading the final Statement.

LGAs of Ghana and Sierra Leone sign MOU
To strengthen the relationship and bring about a number of mutual benefits, two longstanding members of CLGF - the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) and the Local Council Association of Sierra Leone (LoCASL) - have signed an MOU. Read more ...
Democracy and free and fair elections
Having recently embarked on a project with the Electoral Commission in Maharashtra, India to increase women’s participation in elections, CLGF invited representatives from the London Borough of Merton to share their expertise with Maharashtra State Election Commissioner. Read more ...

NZ election results a victory for women and communities
Following recent elections in New Zealand, women now make up over 42% of all local government elected members - a higher percentage than central government and the private sector. This comes with  record numbers of younger candidates joining local bodies across the country. Read more ...
