Word from the Coordinator

Dear reader,

Over the past twelve months the GENIORS project has been rich in events! In January, we submitted a periodic report on the first 18 months of the project to the European Commission in which all the work package leaders were strongly involved. It was also the occasion to give details on how we spent the European fundings in the framework of the Horizon 2020 Programme. Then in May, some GENIORS senior scientists contributed to the INSPYRE Summer School dedicated to the Generation IV reactors fuel cycle. There are so few occasions to mix the separation and fuel communities that we really enjoyed this week shared with the young generations!

Early June, I had the chance to present our project at the FISA conference which gathered the majority of coordinators involved in the EU projects along the last 6 years. This gave us the opportunity to have a full picture of the EURATOM program in nuclear fuel cycle and waste management (EURADWASTE was organised in parallel). After this, we all met in Madrid for the annual review of the GENIORS progress. This was the occasion of exciting scientific exchanges and also the opportunity for the management team to acknowledge the progress done and refocus some actions if necessary. This is the life of a project, and of course, we had the time to enjoy Madrid and its nigh life! Thank you to CIEMAT for hosting us. Finally in November, we will organise in Milan a open workshop to exchange on process flow-sheet and modelling. This is again a good opportunity to train the youngest and don't hesitate to join us!
Hopefully, 2020 will be as exciting as 2019, in particular with the ATALANTE 2020 Conference sponsored by GENIORS. As we did in the past with ACSEPT and SACSESS, the separation sessions of ATALANTE will be the GENIORS international workshop. Do not miss the chance to submit your abstract below in this newsletter!
