A Note from the President
These are crazy times. COVID-19 is an invisible threat that has drastically altered our daily lives. The global pandemic brings uncertain times, but what’s clearer than ever is our need for community (virtually, for the time being). We are all struggling to find a balance but please know two important things:
1) you are not alone, and 2) this is a blip. It is a moment in time. We do not need to ‘find a new normal’. This blip will wreak its havoc and we will pick up the pieces, readjust, and adapt. While it feels isolating, let’s do our part now and get through this blip together. We got this!

Upcoming Events:
Orca Running's The Fly 5K at The Museum of Flight
Join us on Oct. 3 for The Fly 5K, a family-friendly run held at the iconic Museum of Flight. The race features a spectacular finish line inside the Aviation Pavilion. We're honored to be a charity partner again this year! A portion of every entry fee will be donated to A for H, and additional donations are accepted online.

South Whidbey Elementary School’s Red Nose Day
Unfortunately, this event is in a holding pattern during our current health crisis. As the charity of choice for this event on May 21, we will keep you updated. The school originally planned to hold a school supply drive two weeks prior to the event, asking each student to collect supplies for donation for our organization.

Thank you to our volunteers and donors!
We are very grateful for each of our volunteers! This quarter we want to say thank you to Klara and her team of Whidbey Island friends. We appreciate you filling 250 pencil cases with 1,500 school items that will make their way to shelters and orphanages worldwide.

We are so thankful for all our donors! We could not operate without your support. Your donations go directly toward putting school supplies in the hands of at-risk children in remote regions around the world. We'd like to formally thank our continuous donors:

Korrine Simon
Jed Keck
We also want to thank an anonymous donor who recently granted A for H $430 for crayons and toy airplanes which help to fill our pencil cases and backpacks for donation. We sincerely appreciate your monetary contribution!

Reflecting on positive change
We received a gratitude message from an organization that we supported in Cape Town, South Africa late last year. They used the supplies given by our volunteers as part of an Art as a Human Investment program to empower children. View their video at the link below.

Providing support for the community
While we are all doing our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by not traveling, we're finding ways to stay positive while we #StayHome. If you are able, here are some ideas on how you can support your community while practicing social distancing:
  1. If you are doing spring cleaning, gather and disinfect any unused items, including school supplies, to be donated to a home, shelter or orphanage in need.
  2. Consider making a financial contribution to a charity/organization responding to this crisis, such as The Word Health Organization. Link below.
