Construction Knowledge Task Group
Newsletter July 2019
The Construction Knowledge Task Group (CKTG) includes representatives of construction industry institutes, associations and other organisations. Its purpose is to optimise the creation and dissemination of documented, practical, applicable knowledge to enhance productivity and support compliance. You can find out more here.
This occasional newsletter is intended to inform interested parties about the activities of the CKTG. If you are not already subscribed, you can sign up here.
CKTG Meeting 3
On 1 July 2019, the CKTG met at the office of RSHP in the Leadenhall Building. Attendees discussed the governance of the group and heard feedback from the three CKTG workstreams. It was agreed the next steps will be to prepare a stakeholder management plan and then to consult on outline proposals.
The meeting was followed by a 'show and tell' session where members of the group discussed the problems, opportunities, successes and failures they face working with construction knowledge in practice.
Project Initiation Document
A Project Initiation Document (PID) has been prepared formalising the organisation of the CKTG. It describes the governance of the CKTG and its reporting structure and includes an initial risk register.
The PID is available here.
Memorandum of Understanding
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been agreed, formalising commitment to the CKTG by its members. This will be signed by members of the CKTG in the coming weeks.
The MoU is available here.
Search engine
A very simple custom search engine has been prepared which returns results from 68 key industry websites. This was created to test the usefulness of, and identify potential problems with, a custom search engine.
The search engine can be tried here.
Knowledge types
A draft classification for 'knowledge types' (rather than subjects) has been published for discussion. This might be used to 'tag' knowledge and refine results from a custom search engine. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
The draft classification is available here.
