This Month's Tip & Tricks

Layering 101: When you go outdoors you should always dress in layers that adjusts to weather and activity.  Layers should be versatile: Start with a base layer for moisture management, followed by a mid layer (vest or fleece), and finaly you should have a breathable outer shell parka with pit zips to regulate your temperature. Materials you should stick to include: wool, polyester, and other moisture wicking fabrics. Layering allows you to have multiple combination as the weather changes.  You may want to add gloves, hat/beanie, for additional warmth. Check out everything we recommend here.

*NEVER wear cotton it can be the difference between life and death!  Cotton absorbs moisture which creates chafing and makes you cold when you sweat because it doesn't dry, so eliminate cotton underwear and socks!!  You want to pack as if you may have to spend one night out there.

Founder's Corner - Karla and Phillip

January started off with fireworks, (literally!) We were fortunate to spend New Year's in Antigua, Guatemala. While on our travels we summited the tallest volcano in Central America, Volcan Tajumulco to say goodbye to 2015! From there we headed to Leon, Nicaragua where we completed #hike1 of our 2016 52 Hike Challenge and sandboarded down Cerro Negro, an active volcano. It was such a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it! After, we made our way to Isla Ometepe, where we summited the tallest volcano on the island for #hike3, Volcan Concepcion. We had an amazing journey.  Once we returned we had to get ready for our event with Free People! What a turnout, we lead over 100 people on a short and sweet hike to the old zoo at Griffith Park. It was just such an honor to meet so many challengers who came out as well!
